100 Days Until Halloween! Crafts, Activities, Goodies and Scares

Those that love the summer time do not want to know how close we are to Halloween, Thanksgiving (127 days), or Christmas (155 days).  However, there are those of us that just do not care for the heat and humidity.  We live for cool autumn days, football, bonfires, and decorating for the seasons.  Creepy, crawly, scary and fun fall festivals.  Cooking, (or as in my case-eating) a great turkey with all the fixings.  Cursing as we string lights on an artificial tree but staring in awe at the completed project.  If you fall in to these categories, then make sure to follow along!

Here I'll be bringing you fun ideas for all of the holidays to try.  Some will be great Pinterest finds, links to other blogs, or some fun tutorials of my own.  My daughter shares my passion for Halloween, so she is always game to try new projects.  Here are some of my past craft attempts to get things started:

Halloween Countdown.13 Days of Halloween countdown fun for the kids.  Make foldable pumpkins (click on link for tutorial) and write a fun activity on the inside.  Examples would be going to a pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving, making a Halloween snack, decorating treat bags for school and so many more ideas.

Make a Mummy Bucket
Take a sand bucket from the summer, wrap in gauze or torn white fabric, add some googly eyes and you have a cute and creative personal candy bucket for the big night.

TP Pumpkins
So easy and inexpensive.  Simply wrap a roll of toilet paper with orange tissue, crunch up a used toilet paper roll for the stem and add some green ribbon for leaves.  The kids can do these too and even add a face to the pumpkin as well.

100 Days of Holiday Inspiration 2013

Planning an Organized Home - Part 1 - Chore Charts

I started a post on this a few weeks ago and started getting so far in to it that it was looking more like a book than a post.  So, I decided to break it down in to a mini series called: Planning an Organized Home It's a short, six part series that I want to share with you on how I started to get our home organized and in a better routine than we have had in the past.  The more routine, the less whining "why do we have to??".  It becomes a part of every day life for every one in the house. The first thing I worked on were chore charts: one for the kids and one for the parents.  While I have a pretty good routine for my own household chores, having it in writing and staring me down keeps me from falling off track so much.  I searched online for different printable and customizable charts, and ended up finding some pre-loaded with my ancient laptop under Microsoft Works.  If you have Microsoft Excel or Word, you can do the same thing.  I attempted to copy our chart to

Organized Home: Spring Cleaning

This week we welcome spring!  Depending on where you live, that may sound like a joke.  We had spring like weather this weekend, but this week we will drop back to freezing temps at night, and not much better during the day.  I think spring did a little too much springing forward last weekend.  😏 However, our spring break is coming up soon and what better time to do some spring cleaning?  For those of you that do not get a "spring break", have no fear: I have a plan for you as well.  Trying to make that spring cleaning list can seem so endless that you don't know where to begin, or if you even want to.  I always make a list that is unrealistic.  Like there is no way I can do everything possible on my list, and it just stays a list for months and months, until I finally give up and throw it away. Not this year. I have decided to simplify my list.  Well, simplify it after I have made that big, long, never-going-to-get-it-all-done-list.  This is what I added to my H
